Mr. T. R. Srikant, President, Tirupur Export Knit Printers Association (TEKPA), met our President, Shri K. M. Subramanian, today along with representatives of small printing units regarding the issues faced by small printing units in Tiruppur.
Mr. T. R. Srikant explained that these units are very small-scale establishments, operating with only one or two printing machines. Recently, the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB), including the DE North, DE South and JC Coimbatore offices, sealed these units without prior notice, treating them as being located in mixed residential zones. Further, their EB electricity connections have also been disconnected. He further mentioned that the affected units have requested the Government to permit them to reopen, subject to complying with all applicable TNPCB norms and pollution-control requirements. These units have remained closed for the past four months and no modifications or changes have been made during this period.
In line with this, Tirupur Export Knit Printers Association has approached TEA seeking our support and intervention in finding a positive and practical resolution to the issue.
Our President, Shri K. M. Subramanian, assured the units that TEA would take up the matter with the concerned officials and make efforts to find an early and practical solution to the issues faced by these units.
