At Bharat Tex 2026, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) organised a session titled “Demonstrating Traceability Solutions for Transparency and Strengthened Global Competitiveness of the Indian Textile and Apparel Sector.”
On behalf of the Tiruppur Exporters’ Association (TEA), Shri M. Anand, Joint Secretary, participated as one of the panellists.
He shared the Tiruppur perspective, highlighting how the Tiruppur cluster has become a global benchmark for sustainable manufacturing through initiatives such as Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD), water recycling, renewable energy, circularity, and strong MSME participation.
He emphasised that while Indian manufacturers have made remarkable progress in sustainability, the next step is to strengthen digital traceability and develop simple, affordable, and practical solutions that enable MSMEs to meet growing global expectations. He also noted that collaboration among industry, technology providers, and policymakers would be essential to building a robust traceability ecosystem that supports both sustainability and global competitiveness.
