The TEA Charitable Trust organized its annual Cash Prize and memento distribution ceremony for the third consecutive year at the Association’s premises to honour meritorious students from government schools within Tiruppur Corporation limits who excelled in the Class 10 and Class 12 public examinations.
Mr. Kumar Duraiswamy, Joint Secretary TEA , delivered the introductory address and introduced the Association’s office bearers and their educational and social initiatives.
Welcoming the gathering, Mr. N. Thirukkumaran, General Secretary, TEA, said that the initiative aims to motivate government school students to pursue higher education. This year, Cash Prize worth ₹3.93 lakh were awarded to 154 students from 31 government schools.
Mr. Rajkumar Ramasamy, Vice President, TEA, stated that the programme recognizes not only students’ academic achievements but also the dedication of parents, teachers, and schools. He emphasized that hard work and perseverance are the keys to future success.
In his presidential address, Mr. K. M. Subramanian, President, TEA, described education as the highest form of social service and noted that the Association has been supporting meritorious students for the past three years. He highlighted the knitwear industry’s commitment to social responsibility, adding that several exporting companies have adopted government schools and are contributing to educational development and infrastructure improvement. He encouraged students to pursue higher education, become entrepreneurs, and contribute to nation-building.
Padma Shri Dr. A. Sakthivel, Honorary Chairman, TEA, noted that Tiruppur’s exports have grown from ₹10 crore in 1983 to ₹45,000 crore today and expressed confidence that the industry would achieve its ₹1 lakh crore export target by 2030. He urged students to aim high and assured them of the Association’s support and guidance.
Mrs. A. Punitha Anthoniyammal, Chief Educational Officer, Tiruppur District, appreciated the Association’s continued efforts in promoting education and encouraged students to combine academic excellence with discipline and social responsibility.
During the function, Cash Prizes worth ₹3.93 lakh and mementos were presented to 154 meritorious students from 31 government schools. Students who secured the first, second, and third ranks in the Class 12 public examinations received cash prizes of ₹5,000, ₹4,000, and ₹3,000 , respectively. Similarly, students who secured the first, second, and third ranks in the Class 10 public examinations were awarded ₹3,000, ₹2,000, and ₹1,000, respectively. The participating schools were also honoured with mementos in recognition of their contribution to education.
The Vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. M. Anand, Joint Secretary of the TEA.
The Event was attended by Executive Committee Members Shri R. Sundar, Shri K. Mezhi Selvan, Shri M. Mahendran, and Shri M. Rathinasamy; Special Invitees Smt. Sumita Roshan and Shri C. Nataraaj; and Smt. Shruthika Sethu Madhaven, Chairperson of the Women Empowerment Sub-Committee. Government education officials, headmasters, teachers, students, parents, and members of the media also participated in the event.
