The Tiruppur Exporters’ Association (TEA) has been honoured with the prestigious CITI–UNIDO Best Cluster Initiative Towards Sustainable Textile Production Award at the CITI Textile Sustainability Awards 2026 ,award function at Bharat Tex 2026 in recognition of Tiruppur’s outstanding initiatives in promoting sustainable textile manufacturing and environmental stewardship.
The award was presented during a special ceremony held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, by Shri Pabitra Margherita, Hon’ble Minister of State for Textiles, along with senior government officials and distinguished representatives from the textile industry.
The award was received on behalf of the Tiruppur Exporters’ Association by Mr. K. M. Subramanian, President, TEA, and Mr. N. Thirukkumaran, General Secretary, TEA.
This national recognition acknowledges Tiruppur’s collective efforts in establishing itself as a Sustainable Sourcing Cluster through pioneering initiatives such as Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD), extensive use of renewable energy, Mass tree plantation programmes , Waste water management , and the adoption of environmentally sustainable manufacturing practices.
The recognition further reinforces Tiruppur’s global reputation as India’s leading sustainable knitwear manufacturing hub and highlights the industry’s commitment to balancing economic growth with environmental responsibility.
