Ms. Alaknanda Dayal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, visited the TEA stall at Bharat Tex 2026. She was accompanied by Mr. R. Ramu, Executive Committee Member, who briefed her on the sustainability initiatives like ZLD undertaken in the Tiruppur cluster, including large-scale tree plantation drives and the adoption of renewable energy.
Mr. Ramu also highlighted that a majority of companies in Tiruppur are transitioning to rooftop solar power as part of their commitment to sustainable manufacturing. In addition, he informed Joint Secretary that TEA has requested an additional allocation of 10,000 candidates for skilling under the Samarth Scheme.
Following the interaction, Mr.R. Ramu accompanied Joint Secretary on a visit to the stalls of exhibitors from Tiruppur including Clothing Connections where Executive Committee Member Mr. Ramu Shanmugam explained about their range of products.
