TEA organized a session on the new minimum wages for hosiery manufacturing on 07 April 2025.

General Secretary, Thiru N Thirukkumaran delivered the welcome address President Thiru K.M. Subramanian highlighted that TEA had played a major role in the process, with the committee traveling to Chennai several times to represent on Minimum wages. He also mentioned that TEA has been actively working on several fronts for the betterment of industries in Tirupur. Treasurer Thiru Gopalakrishnan pointed out that the revised wages, received on March 13th, were 30% lower than the draft notification issued in February 2024. Thiru Kumar Duraiswamy, Joint Secretary, explained the process of determining minimum wages and elaborated on TEA’s efforts in this regard.

During the session, Thiru Samsudheen, Labour Law Consultant discussed the history of minimum wages, the reasons behind their introduction and their timeline. He also provided a clear explanation of the revisions made on March 13th and addressed various concerns raised by the participants.
