HR Conclave organised by Tirupur Stakeholders Forum (TSF)

HR Conclave was jointly organized by Tiruppur Exporters’ Association and Tirupur Stakeholders Forum on 21st November 2024 at Poppys Vista Hotel.
Following the success of the TSF Annual Summit in June, this conference aimed at focusing on the challenges in human Resource development within industries in Tiruppur and discuss possible solutions through expert panel discussions. Over 225 Human Resource Development Managers from Tiruppur export units participated with enthusiasm.
Commissioner of Police, Tirupur City, Tmt. S. Lakshmi IPS was the Chief Guest of the Conclave. Tmt. N. Ranjithadevi, District Social Welfare Officer was the Guest of Honour. Our President Thiru. K.M. Subramanian, Vice President and Chairman of TSF Thiru. V. Elangovan, Treasurer Thiru. R. Gopalakrishnan, Joint Secretary Thiru. Kumar Duraiswamy, Executive Committee Member and Vice President of AEPC Thiru. R. Ramu and Members of Executive Committee participated on behalf of our Association. Representatives from Trade Unions, Other Trade Associations, NGOs, ETI, Brands were also part of the successful conclave.
Chairman of TSF Thiru. V. Elangovan welcomed the gathering. He appreciated the entrepreneurs for having deputed HR Managers in such large numbers to attend the Conclave and be benefitted.
Our President in his Presidential address mentioned that the export business of Tiruppur has grown in the past few months. He said that the main purpose of starting TSF was to ensure the cooperation of all stakeholders in ensuring worker welfare and growth in Business. He proudly mentioned that a city which accounted for Rs. 35,000 Crore exports and Rs. 25,000 Crore domestic business has had no labour disputes in the past 30 years. He further said that many leading buyers and retailers have appreciated the efforts of TEA for starting Tirupur Stakeholders Forum (TSF). He said they said that this was a initiative for the first time in the world and they wanted other competing countries to follow this move.
Tmt. S. Lakshmi, Commissioner of Police, Tirupur City in her address said that the HR Managers were the bridge between the Entrepreneurs and the Workers. She advised them to be neutral in their activities and should assume the posting as a responsibility and not as Power. She also said that HR professionals should five a patient hearing to the problems of the workers. She concluded by saying that HR team should work smart for the success of the company.
Tmt. N. Ranjithadevi, District Social welfare Officer in her address appreciated Tiruppur Exporters Association for starting Tirupur Stakeholders Forum and organizing the HR Conclave. She requested the cooperation of the HR Managers for implementing various rules of the Government on subjects like Gender based violence.
Thiru R. Ramu, Executive Committee Member of TEA proposed the Vote of Thanks for the inaugural session.
This was followed by Five distinct sessions on “Role of Trade Unions”, “Expectation of Buyers”, “Role of NGOs in Apparel Industry”, “Empowering Women”, and Role of HR in Sustainability”. These technical sessions were moderated by leading professionals such as Thiru. Kumar Duraiswamy, Joint Secretary, Thiru. V. Elangovan, Chairman TSF, Thiru. K. Mezhiselvan, Vice Chairman Sustainability Sub Committee, Tmt. Sumitha Ravi, Chairman women empowerment subcommittee, and Thiru. R. Sivasubramaniam, Chairman, Membership subcommittee. The panelists included prominent Trade Union leaders, representatives of leading brands and retailers, well known NGOs, women entrepreneurs and professionals in HR and Sustainability.
Past Vice President of TEA and CMD of Eastman Exports Thiru. N. Chandran was the chief guest in the concluding session. In his concluding Address, recollected how he was part of the team that originally conceived the idea of Tiruppur Stakeholders Forum in 2012 when the Tiruppur Cluster faced stiff challenges in Human Relations. He praised the current management team of TEA under the presidentship of Thiru K.M. Subramanian for restarting and taking forward TSF with the able guidance of the Honorary Chairman of TEA Padmashri. Dr. A. Sakthivel.
Treasurer of TEA Thiru. R. Gopalakrishnan shared his experience in dealing with HR problems and summarized the happenings of the Conclave.
All suggestions from participating HR Managers were welcomed and their doubts and queries cleared by Thiru. Kumar Duraiswamy during the Vote of Thanks. He explained in detail the purpose of organizing the HR Conclave as the first event after the Annual Summit of TSF. He specifically thanked Honorary Chairman of TEA Padmashri Dr. A. Sakthivel, President of TEA Thiru. K.M. Subramanian and Chairman of TSF Thiru. V. Elangovan for all their encouragement and support given to him for organizing the HR Conclave successfully.
