Breast and Cervical Cancer Awareness Program for Women on a regular basis at TEA Member Institutions

TIRUPUR STAKEHOLDERS FORUM (TSF) and TEA – Women Entrepreneurs Sub-Committee along with Tirupur Thirumuruganpoondi Rotary Association organized awareness program on Breast Cancer and Cervical Cancer for women held on 28th August 2024 at M/s. Anthony Garments Pvt Ltd., a member company of Tirupur Exporters Association. President of Tirupur Exporters Association Mr. K.M. Subramanian presided. President of TSF and Vice President of the Association Mr. Mr. V. Ilangovan, General Secretary of the Society. N. Thirukkumaran, Chairman Business Development, Branding and Sustainability Sub-Committee Mr. M. Anand presided. TEA – Women Entrepreneurship Sub-Committee Chairperson Smt. Sumita Ravi, Members Smt. Sukanti, Mrs. Sruthika, and Smt. Panditselvi, Obstetrician Mrs. Anitha Vijay, President of Thirumuruganpoondi Rotary Association Dr. D. Karthikeyan, Zonal Coordinator of the project Mr. V. G. Anand Ram participated in the program.
Managing Director of Anthony Garments Private Limited Mr. A. Joseph Anthony, Deputy Managing Director Mr. A.J. Eric Joel and Company Human Resources Manager Mr. M. Sivashakti welcomed everyone and coordinated the program.
Tirupur Exporters Association President Mr. K.M. Subramanian in his keynote speech said that with the help of Rotary organization, many knitwear companies where 60% of women work are continuously conducting awareness programs for women about breast and cervical cancer and screening camps are also being conducted for them. So far 4000 women have been tested under this program and 40 women have been diagnosed with symptoms and successfully treated. For the past 6 months, we have been organizing events like these regularly to show that not only the member organizations but also the association cares about women in maintaining their health. In this awareness program which is being conducted with the aim of protecting the welfare of workers, he asked women to discuss their doubts about their physical condition with the doctor and benefit from it.
The vice president of the association and the president of TSF organization Mr. V. Ilangovan in his speech said that we are making an effort to bring such series of awareness programs aimed at the welfare of women workers to all the institutions of Tirupur in collaboration with the Rotary organization as initiated by the TEA – Women Entrepreneurs sub-committee. He appealed to all to take advantage of this scheme which is an income protection initiative of TEA, TSF and Rotary for women workers.
TEA – Business Development, Branding and Sustainability Sub-Committee Chairman Mr. M. Anand, while speaking, emphasized the need for such awareness among women workers.
Zonal coordinator of the project Mr. V.G. Anand Ram and Dr. S. Karthikeyan, President of Thirumuruganboondi Rotary Association, explained about the project, the purpose of the project and how beneficial the project is for women.
Obstetrician Ms. on behalf of Rotary organization. Anita Vijay explained to the women the symptoms of breast cancer and cervical cancer, the effects of cancer and explained the prevention methods in detail.
