Ongoing Breast and Cervical Cancer Awareness Program for Women at TEA Member Unit Factories

TIRUPUR STAKEHOLDERS FORUM – TSF and TEA – Women Empowerment Sub-Committee jointly organized an awareness program on Breast Cancer and Cervical Cancer for women on 13th September 2024 in collaboration with Rotary Club of Tirupur Thirumuruganpoondi. It was held at SCM Garments Pvt Ltd., a member company of Tiruppur Exporters Association.

Tirupur Exporters Association Vice President Mr. Rajkumar Ramasamy presided over this event. Treasurer of TEA Mr. R. Gopalakrishnan, Chairman Business Development, Branding and Sustainability Sub-Committee Mr. M. Anand participated. Ms. Viyakula Mary of SAVE NGO, Mr. Rana Alok Singh and Dr. R. Aruna from Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) were the special guests. TEA – Women Empowerment Sub-Committee Chairman Smt. Sumita Ravi, and Members Smt. Suganthi and Mrs. Sruthika Sethu, Gynaecologist Mrs. Anitha Vijay, President of Thirumuruganpoondi Rotary Club Dr. D. Karthikeyan and Zonal Coordinator of the project Mr. V. G. Anand Ram participated in the program.

Executive Director of SCM Garments Private Limited Mr. Kaushik Kumaran and HR Managers of the company welcomed the gathering and coordinated the program.

Vice President of TEA Mr. Rajkumar Ramasamy in his speech, advised that all women should participate and benefit from such awareness programs which are being carried out with the help of Rotary organizations at the initiative of TEA – Women Empowerment sub-committee aimed at the welfare of women workers. He thanked the Rotary organization for dedicating an expensive scanning vehicle to carry out such useful work.

Mr. R Gopalakrishnan, Treasurer of the association, while speaking, said that all women should take advantage of this prevention scheme. He also expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Gynaecologist Mrs. Anitha Vijay who has extended her full cooperation for this project.

Gynaecologist Mrs. Anitha Vijay on behalf of the Rotary, explained all the symptoms of breast cancer and cervical cancer to the women, the effects of cancer and explained the prevention methods in detail. She said that the aim of this project is to make breast and cervical cancer free by 2050 with the help of Rotary organizations.

Zonal coordinator of the project Mr. V.G. Anand Ram and President of Thirumuruganpoondi Rotary Club Dr. S. Karthikeyan explained about the project and its objectives.

President of TEA Mr. K.M. Subramanian, said that following such awareness programs conducted by the association, experimental camps are also conducted. If any of the tested persons require treatment, it is also provided free of charge. He mentioned that so far 4000 women have been tested in this program and 40 women have been diagnosed with symptoms and cured by good treatment.
