Mr. N. Thirukkumaran, General Secretary, TEA, highlighted that the Association has worked in line with national economic plans to secure a leading position in the global market, foster industrial growth, and contribute to national economic development. He expressed confidence that TEA’s export target of ₹1 lakh crore by 2030 would be achieved, aided by free trade agreements with the UK and the European Union (EU).
During the 2024–25 financial year, Tiruppur exported goods worth ₹44,747 crore (US$5.39 billion), registering a growth of 16.49%. Tiruppur continues to lead India’s knitwear exports, holding a 68.65% market share. The Association has also placed several demands before the Central and Tamil Nadu Governments, including improved accommodation facilities for workers and safeguards against imports from Bangladesh. With over 400 meetings held during the year, he stated that TEA continues to lead initiatives in industrial development and social progress.
Mr. R. Gopalakrishnan, Treasurer, TEA, presented the annual budget of 2024-2025, outlining the Association’s financial situation and explaining how financial burdens had been reduced. He thanked the president and members for their support over the past three years.
Mr. K.M. Subramanian, President, TEA, thanked Honorary Chairman Padma Shri Dr. A. Sakthivel for his constant support and guidance. He highlighted the significant benefits for Tiruppur’s garment industry from the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) signed with the UK on 27 July 2025, and the anticipated agreement with the EU. He noted that knitwear exports, currently valued at ₹19,199 crore, are projected to double by 2028.
While acknowledging the challenge of a 25% duty imposed by the US on Indian exports, he emphasized that the Tiruppur cluster has always bounced back stronger due to the hard work of its entrepreneurs. He thanked the Central and State Governments, ministers, officials and the media for their continuous support.
Padma Shri Dr. A. Sakthivel, Honorary Chairman, TEA congratulated the President, the re-elected office bearers, and the Executive Committee members. He stated that the impact of US tariffs is temporary, expressing confidence that a resolution would be reached through ongoing government talks. He confidently predicted that the next 20 years will be a golden age for Tiruppur’s knitwear exporters and urged all members to improve their production capacity and output. He advised that TEA should work with a theme ” MMF WITH SUSTAINABILITY” for this year. He endorsed the plan for TEA to organize a felicitation ceremony for Mr. C.P. Radhakrishnan, Hon’ble Vice President of India, who is also a distinguished member of the Association.
The election of the Executive Committee for the 2025–28 term was announced, with seven office bearers and 30 executive committee members elected unopposed. The newly appointed office bearers who assumed charge are:

The meeting also featured the release of a book, “Empowering TEA: A Three-Year Journey of Transformation (2022–2025),” by the office bearers.
Awards were presented to 13 exporters in different categories including Year on Year Export Growth, ESG, Women Entrepreneurship, and First-Generation Young Entrepreneur.
A donation of ₹10 lakhs from the TEA Charitable Trusts was made to the “Smile on Wheels” – Rotary Mobile Dental Screening & Treatment Awareness Program.
